Personal Statement

My work has evolved over time to abstract realism. I am constantly looking for new ways to paint. I use acrylics, spray paint and various types of texture and enjoy the freedom these mediums give me, finishing with oils.

I paint a number of different subjects but feel drawn to portraits and figures of women with strong, powerful animals as they emerge from chaotic backgrounds to find peace and harmony,

In my exploration of abstract realism, i strive to capture the essence of strength and empowerment through interplay of vibrant colours and dynamic compositions. The figures of women in my work are not just subjects but but symbols of resilience and courage. The powerful animals accompanying them serve as metaphors for the untamed spirit and inner strength that each individual possesses.

I want the viewer to feel these emotions when they stop to look at my paintings and to empower them. By presenting these figures in moments of serenity amidst the chaos, I aim to evoke a sense of calm and introspection. The abstract elements allow for personal interpretation, inviting the viewer to find their own meaning and connection with the art.

The combination of acrylics, spray paint and oils, along with other mediums, allow me to layer and manipulate textures, creating depth and movement within the compositions. This technique reflects the complexity of the human experience and the multifaceted nature of identity and emotion. The use of vibrant colours and bold strokes further enhances the narrative of empowerment and strength.

In my journey through abstract realism, i continue to seek new ways to express these themes, constantly pushing the boundaries of my creativity and inviting others to join in the exploration of these powerful stories.
